Announcing CO2.Storage
🌍 Earlier this month, Filecoin Green announced the launch of CO2.Storage, a web3 native data storage solution to increase the transparency and verifiability of digital environmental assets like carbon credits, renewable energy certificates, and more. This project seeks to address issues with data fragmentation and a lack of standardization amongst carbon offsets by allowing carbon credit providers to define their own data schemas and then store their data in a content-addressed manner on Filecoin and IPFS. "Too often, data associated with carbon offsets is difficult to access and validate, resulting in low-quality, outdated credits that don’t accurately reflect the emissions mitigation potential of the credit. To trust the quality of carbon credits, users need transparent and verifiable datasets that guarantee the environmental legitimacy of credits for sale."
We are working with a variety of partners dedicated to tokenizing carbon offsets to help ensure that their data is transparent and verifiable including Toucan, KlimaDAO, Flowcarbon, Moss, dClimate, Hyphen, Nori, and more! We are also actively seeking input on features from industry participants and interested parties. Please provide your contact information if you'd like to receive updates: CO2.Storage Updates Form.
