🌱 Filecoin Green 🌱 September 2022 Updates
Welcome to the Filecoin Green newsletter! Our team has been hard at work over the last few months and we're excited to share some updates about what we've been up to.
Help us offset SBS-EU Travel! ✈️If you attended SBS-EU, we need your help in decarbonizing travel to the event! We started off by estimating travel emissions based on survey and registration data, had some awesome offset projects offering their products, and now we are asking speakers, attendees, and industry experts to compare and rate the options. After that, we will publish the average ratings and buy offsets that maximize the total rating score. You can check out this repo or our latest blog post to learn more! Sustainable Blockchain Summit-EU Recap
🌍 This past July, Filecoin Green hosted our first-ever SBS-EU! Over 350 attendees gathered in Paris for two days of workshops, panels, and coordination around ReFi, tokenized carbon, and using web3 and blockchain technologies to address the climate crisis. Leading up to SBS-EU was a month-long hackathon centered around the best use of IPFS/Filecoin for an environmental project. This hackathon resulted in 250+ participants, over 70 project submissions, and representation from 10 countries around the world. The first place winner was EcoSoul, a community hub for storage providers to track their “green reputation score” both on-and-off chain. This project was built to incentivize storage providers to be as green as possible and in turn, contribute to the overall sustainability and environmental impacts of the Filecoin ecosystem. You can catch all our recordings from SBS-EU on YouTube:
