Join us Thursday, March 5, at 6 PM PST, for a virtual Q&A session with Juan Benet, founder of the Filecoin Project.
For one hour, Juan will be online to answer any questions you might have about our testnet, updated roadmap, and future plans. We hope you can join us! Here’s how to participate.
What’s Next for Filecoin: February’s Roadmap update
We’ve updated the roadmap to Filecoin to note where we are in Testnet Phase 1, when Testnet Phase 2 will begin, and what comes after that (like launching our first interop network)! Read the full announcement on the Filecoin blog.
What Sets us Apart: Filecoin’s Proof System
With Filecoin poised to change how we think about cryptocurrency-powered, decentralized storage, many folks might be wondering what exactly sets Filecoin apart from other crypto tokens. Our post on the blog elaborates on the details of Proof of Replication and Proof of Spacetime, and the story of how we got there.
Understanding the Technical Barriers to Blockchain
The DCS theorem states that a decentralized system cannot have Decentralization, Consensus, and Scalability simultaneously, yet Filecoin aims to do just that with a blockchain-based system focused on democratizing file storage. How can Filecoin both tackle and successfully navigate those challenges? Learn more in the latest blog from Protocol Labs.
Discover the Filecoin Implementations in Rust and C++
Launching the Filecoin network with multiple implementations is a key part of our network security strategy. Read about the recently released Filecoin protocols: forest – being implemented in Rust by ChainSafe, and fuhon – being implemented in C++ by Soramitsu. These implementations are in active development and are now fully open for anyone to use or contribute to.
A Closer Look at Filecoin Building Blocks

We are excited to introduce Filecoin’s consensus mechanism, built on a variation of GHOSTy (Greedy Heaviest-Observed SubTree) protocols called tipsets. Tipsets are unique to the Filecoin network, and were created to guarantee the system incentivizes collaboration and increases chain throughput overall by ensuring no work is wasted. Read more about tipsets in on the Filecoin blog.
